Here are some frequently asked questions I receive concerning this story. If you have one to add, please tell me. ---
Q. Who is Bridget and why the hell does she have Karr? A. Although this question is easily explained in the story itself, I know some people are edgy about "original characters." Here is Bridget Smith in a nutshell: at age ten she found Karr's intact CPU in the desert while on a vacation. She brought him home with her, knowing he could talk. After nearly two years of egging him on, she gets him to explain what he is and indirectly how to take care of him. She never explains why she goes out of her way to take care of the crude robot, but she makes it her job to keep Karr safe. She is from a small mid-western town and has little mechanical experience, but does a decent job through trial and error keeping Karr alive. She is witty and bright, but also just like any other teenager. Also, like any other person on this planet, she has some emotional background issues that help move the plot along. To put it simply, I wrote her as human and hope she comes across as human. If she appears "Mary-Sueish" to you or like a "foil" character, let me know. I think I did a good job with her character, but that's just the author speaking.
Q. ...But why an original character? A. Why not? In the actual series, plenty of "new" faces appeared, albeit temporary, in each episode. Bridget was made out of necessity. None of the "main" KR characters (like Michael, Bonnie, etc.) would be good for this role. Bridget has a purpose I created her for and this purpose will be exposed as the story progresses. To put it in even further perspective, I made her to fit Karr and none of the "canon" characters fit this role at all. The reason she is female is because 1) I wanted her to be and 2) I am a girl and know how they act and think, thus I can write female characters better.
Q. Why does Karr, who hates humans and is focused only on self-preservation, put up with someone like Bridget? A. This will become clear as the story progresses. (Hint: it is philosophically explained by Bridget in chapter four.)
Q. How long will this story be? A. I honestly don't know. I'm still writing it. I can surmise, however, that it may be between 30-40 chapters. That may seem long, but the chapters are very long. And of course, the sequels. Lol.
Q. Why are you writing a Knight Rider fan fiction? A. I hate the show. Honest to God, I do. The acting is atrocious (Kitt's not that bad, though) and the "damsel in distress" bit in every episode pissed me off. In all honesty, I never would have guessed that I'd be writing a fan fiction for Knight Rider of all things, but here I am. Why? I became obsessed with Transformers (movie2007) recently and I went looking for "talking car" themed shows/stories. I found Knight Rider. I found Kitt. I found Karr. I became interested. Then, I read Gryph's Fire and Ice series. I became hooked. LOL. End of story.
Q. Where is Orca located? A. Orca is just another "middle of nowhere" town, USA that I made up for the purpose of this story only. Bridget and Micky have lived there all their lives, but its pretty much off the map. Perfect for keeping artificially intelligent technology hidden, eh?
Q. What sort of car is Karr? A. Mustang! Yes! They are sexy. :D Karr’s new form is a Ford Mustang. I personally like the way that model looks and it’s menacing enough to fit Karr (example here.) Yes, menacing. He’s downright scary to me, in a good way. And yes, I know that this story is supposed to be taking place in 1991 (when I was born! ;-;) but just pretend. This new 2007 model looks prettier than the ’91 version.
